The Easter Barrett Is Coming to Town + Friday Thoughts

Happy Friday! And Happy Good Friday to my Christian readers. If you have plans to celebrate Easter this weekend, I hope you have a beautiful weekend and enjoy reflecting on the true meaning behind the season with your friends and family. We’ve got plans to squeeze in an egg hunt or two, dye some Easter eggs, plant my rose bushes, and hopefully take our little fam on a Saturday morning hiking adventure. I’ve been itching for a change in scenery, and I think getting outside for a hike will do the trick. I think Adeline would have a blast exploring, since lately she’s been big into DIRT and I’m loving her free spirit. I’ve been using the All Trails app to find some options, so I’m excited to pick one out.

This year’s Easter celebrations will be here in town, and low key. I’m looking forward to Sunday’s service, and eating way too much for lunch afterwards! Ha! Adeline is looking forward to Easter treats, of course, and B doesn’t know what’s coming. It will be his FIRST Easter and I can’t wait to celebrate with him. I snapped a few little Easter photos of him yesterday before nap time and I could just EAT UP HIS DELICIOUSNESS. He’s the cutest bunny, in my opinion, but if I remember correctly, Adeline made pretty a cute bunny too!

I’m planning on signing off and unplugging as much as I can over the weekend, but wanted to pop on and share a few thoughts from this week! So grab a cup of coffee, and let’s unpack them.

Chatbooks –

I finally ordered a 2018 Family Highlights book and used Chatbooks. I can’t WAIT for it to come in, and check out the quality. I’d been feeling a little sad about missing out on a 2018 photo book, and had actually just decided to not even make one because 2018 basically revolved around our pregnancy and Barrett’s birth, which are both already documented in photo books. But, after checking out Chatbooks, I figured it would take no time at all to whip up a highlights book and use mostly Instagram photos to hone in on my favorites. (We always post the best of the best anyways, right??) I’ll be sure to share once it arrives. Not going to lie, it was way pricier than if I’d made a Shutterfly book, but it’s only because I’m insane and take way too many photos resulting in a book that’s like 9583948 pages long. Normally they’re V affordable! In face, you can use my code (SarahIngle-7YUP) to get $10 off your order!

Enneagram –

I’ve just started really getting into this after feeling like it was a required Millennial to-do! Ha! But really, it’s everywhere! Yes?? I was a psychology major and actually LOVE learning about personality types, so I’m enjoying diving into this a bit and learning more about what my Enneagram personality type might be. Right now, without having taken an official test yet, I’m leaning towards being a 1, with maybe a 9 wing?? But with healthy attributes of a 7? We shall see! I’ve been listening to The Road Back To You and it’s been very interesting! One thing the book stated early on was to not judge someone for their personality type, and to not put down the negative attributes of one while praising the positives of another. Because when you do that, you’re perpetuating the idea that one personality type is superior to another personality type, when in reality, they are all equal and we’re all created as images of the same God. If we all had the same personality, what a boring world that would be!

Easter Baskets –

I’m so excited for our first Easter with two sweet kiddos. I’ve got their baskets loaded up and ready to go (minus a fun book I ordered for each!) and I’m looking forward to watching Adeline dig through hers on Sunday. I know some people don’t do Easter baskets or the ‘Easter Bunny’ but growing up, we always did, and I think it’s just a fun side-tradition that goes along with the real reason for the Easter holiday. And, if you know me at all, you know that one of my top two love languages is gifts, so I simply can’t resist an occasion to pick out some special goodies for my loved ones! It doesn’t stem from materialism, but rather a source of joy and nostalgia. I have so many special memories growing up of our Easter baskets, and egg hunts, and chocolate bunnies and I’m looking forward to creating new memories with my own children. I ordered monogrammed gingham Easter baskets from Pottery Barn Kids to use for the next couple years and love how they turned out!

Photography –

Now that I’m feeling more like myself after coming out of the new baby haze, I’m starting to slowly get back into photography. Nothing big, nothing crazy, just offering up a few word of mouth sessions here and there. I’ll always have a passion for photography, and be prideful of the business I built over the years, so getting back into it to keep myself fresh and creatively satisfied is going to be a good thing. I’ve been slowly updating my site, and Instagram account as well. I haven’t chased after much business since moving to Texas, so it’s a little intimidating feeling like I’m starting over in a new market, which is why for now I’m just opening myself up to friends and friends of friends.

I hope you all have a beautiful and blessed Easter weekend! I’ll be back next week to share all our festivities and Easter basket details, I’m sure!

What are your Easter plans? Do you do Easter baskets? Share your thoughts on one of the topics above, I’ve love to hear!
