BLURB:

Licking her wounds after a bad relationship, San Diego accountant Caitlyn Summers travels to Willow Springs to help her friend gear up for the annual Maple Sugar Ball. She isn't planning on staying long, but one encounter with the delicious Corey Duncan has her re-evaluating her plans.

Corey swore off love when his wife Annie died from breast cancer. Caitlyn is too young, too citified, and vibrates with a passion and energy that will upend the safe, comfortable rhythm of his life. Corey has to choose between playing it safe and taking a risk on love. Caitlyn needs to find the patience to let Corey lead. If not, the Maple Sugar Ball might end in a sticky mess, instead of a slow dance with the man who has captured her heart.

Will their fire burn hot enough to erase doubts and past hurts?

EXCERPT:

She walked across to Corey, tucking her hair behind her right ear, unexpectedly shy at his acknowledgement. She squared her shoulders. “Hi.”

“Hey.” He stood and pulled out a chair for her, a half-smile playing on his lips. “You and I can’t avoid each other.”

She shrugged. “It’s a small town. Although you’ve looked awfully busy.” Too busy to say hello was her unspoken message. She’d let him know she was interested, and he had ignored her ever since.

“Yeah.”

Her drink arrived, and they fell silent while the waitress fussed with a coaster and peanuts.

He rubbed his hand against his chin and gazed directly into her eyes. “I’ve been a bit preoccupied, mostly with you.”

“Me?” She choked on a swig of champagne and coughed as the bubbles went down the wrong way.

He grabbed her glass and set it down before patting her on the back.

“I’m fine,” she gasped.

“Sorry. I take it that was my fault for surprising the heck out of you.”

“Yep.”

“Why? You’re the one who kissed me.”

And why wouldn’t she when he looked so delectable? She was tempted to kiss him again, rub out the mischievous twitch to his lips. Instead she retorted, “And you’re the one who didn’t kiss me back.”

AUTHOR Interview:

Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?
My romances are best for readers who enjoy contemporary romance with humour, emotional intensity, and a bit of heat in the bedroom. However, they are not erotic novels.
My novels get people out of big cities and into small towns so they appeal to readers who love small town romance. I also like to acknowledge the presence of a bigger world in the form of overseas travel, a foreign lover, or cross-cultural interactions. Depending on the series, there can be a suspense element, but the relationship and romance between the hero and heroine is always my key focus.
How did you come up with the title of your book or series?
My story is set around one of the big annual events in Willow Springs, the Maple Sugar Ball. Dance plays a key role in the story. My heroine Caitlin, who is Chinese American, has to teach my hero Corey the steps of the lion dance, so I played around to find a title that would reflect the energy and intimacy of dance as well as Caitlin’s cultural heritage. The result was Lion Dancing for Love. It’s a verbal play on Line Dancing for Love which I think readers might be more likely to expect from a Vermont romance. I am hoping the contrast will tweak their interest.
The Deerbourne Inn series itself is a publisher created world set in the fictional town of Willow Springs, Vermont. All the stories are set in and around the Inn. Some are sweet, some are sexy. Some are historical, some contemporary and some paranormal. Jean Grant, who has also written for the series has a lovely summary of the current and upcoming titles here: https://www.jeanmgrant.com/blog/2019/4/8/highlights-of-the-deerbourne-inn-series.
Tell us a little bit about your cover art. Who designed it? Why did you go with that particular image/artwork?
A huge thank you to the wonderful Debbie Taylor who designed my cover. She has created a beautiful visual image that reflects the feel and emotional intensity of my story. The couple represent Caitlin and Corey, the champagne reflects the Maple Sugar Ball and the banner is a reminder that is it part of the Deerbourne Inn series.

Who is your favorite character from your book and why?
I have such a soft spot for Corey Duncan, my hero. He is brave, resilient and kind (not to mention sexy), and he’s been plodding on stoically since the death of his first wife to cancer, not giving up on life but doing his best to avoid anything that might cause him further pain. He’s avoided all the matchmaking efforts of family and friends, but then Caitlin arrives in town....

How about your least favorite character? What makes them less appealing to you?
My least favorite character doesn’t actually appear on the page but he does influence the action. Caitlin’s ex was a cheat and a user. He broke her heart and her trust. But really, what can you expect from a reality TV producer?

What can we expect from you in the future?
I am currently working on book 2 in my Romancing the Alps four-book series, which I hope to have out by the end of the year. The first book is The Millionaire Mountain Climber. https://www.amazon.com./Lion-Dancing-Love-Deerbourne-Inn-ebook/dp/B07NQ6VGD7/.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?
Word of mouth is the best form of recommendation ever. If you enjoy my books, please let friends and colleagues know by writing a review, popping up a one-liner along with the cover on Facebook or Instagram, or just telling your friends over dinner, at work, the library or book club. Not everybody has the time to review, but any mention to another reader is helpful. Thank you.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?
First, make your book the best it can be by taking classes on weak areas (character, plot, dialogue - whatever stumps you). Second, find out as much about publishing as you can. There are a multitude of potential publishers but most writers only know one or two. You can submit direct to many smaller ones without having an agent. Third, seriously consider self-publishing. Fourth, be persistent and resilient . Keep the faith. A rejection is just one person’s opinion. All you need is one other person who loves your book. Keep looking or go direct to readers (self-publish). Fifth, surround yourself with people who believe in you, who will champion your cause and give you constructive, kind feedback. Good luck!
